Chai, Liquid Cheeks and Abel Gray at the Hare and Hounds, Birmingham, 13th May 2019

There was lots of energy and dance moves from Chai to try and capture in a single drawing! Liquid Cheeks also had a guest song from Abel Gray in the top right corner.

I’ll be at London MCM Comic Con next weekend! I have music themed comics and zines including some compilations of gig sketches! Hopefully see you there :)

The Beths and Hans Pucket at The Hare & Hounds, Birmingham, 7th May 2019

The Beths and Hans Pucket at The Hare & Hounds, Birmingham, 7th May 2019

New Zealand bands The Beths and Hans Pucket started a tour of the UK last night in Birmingham. The lead guitarist of Hans Pucket had a strange sized guitar, I tried my best to get the scale right.

I’ve got more gigs lined up in May so hopefully there will be more regular gig sketches this month.

Dilly Dally and Hotel Lux at The Hare and Hounds, Birmingham, 29th January 2019

Dilly Dally and Hotel Lux at The Hare and Hounds, Birmingham, 29th January 2019

First gig sketches of the year! I’ve got a couple of gigs scheduled in February->May so watch this space for more drawings.

I was running late and missed sketching Soeur at this gig. They’re great live and you can find sketches from last year here.

Soeur, Yr Poetry and Outlander at The Hare and Hounds, Birmingham, 28th November 2018

Soeur, Yr Poetry and Outlander at The Hare and Hounds, Birmingham, 28th November 2018

The sketch of Yr Poetry is incomplete because I saw them preform in the same room around a month ago and I like that sketch. You can find it here. The microphone shaped like a phone with a jack lead coming out the side is very cool but only used for a few songs and I couldn’t draw fast enough!

For advent I’m going to be posting gig sketches daily over Christmas and New year with links to all the bands. You can follow along starting here.

Thanks again to everyone who bought zines from my table at Future Days this weekend! Sorry if I missed you when I was sketching bands! I have an online shop with a bigger range of comics here. My next comic con is also in Birmingham! - I’ll be at the NEC for MCM Comic Con on 24th-25th November 2018.

This Is TMRW Future Days with Kurt Vile & The Violators and Meg Baird & Mary Lattimore at The Crossing, Birmingham, 9th November 2018

Thank you to everyone who stopped by my zine stall at Future Days last night! Sorry I wasn’t there all evening I was sketching bands. Saturday’s show was cancelled, but I’ll be back selling zines Sunday night at the Parquet Courts gig. (Please note: I have to catch an earlier train on the weekends so I’ll be packing away around 10.40pm)

It was cool to get the opportunity to draw a harp, I end up drawing so many guitars! (sorry it was such a quick sketch because of the stall) Meg Baird & Mary Lattimore released a new record yesterday! More info here.

A Bull, Yr Poetry, Kermes and Crywank at The Hare & Hounds, Birmingham, 10th October 2018

A Bull (Andy from Sunshine Frisbee Laserbeam), Yr Poetry, Kermes and Crywank at The Hare & Hounds, Birmingham, 10th October 2018

Great line up at the Hare & Hounds on Wednesday night! Yr Poetry had a telephone microphone which I wasn’t quick enough to draw, and Kermes were much more energetic and I regret not trying to capture their front woman with multiple faster guesture drawings. Hopefully I can see them another time!

Bodega and Vital Idles at The Sunflower Lounge, Birmingham, 11th July 2018

Bodega and Vital Idles at The Sunflower Lounge, Birmingham, 11th July 2018

Stage times ran late because of the football, I have to admit I was getting kinda tired and I don't think I managed to capture Bodega quite right. They were such an expressive band, I hope I get a chance to sketch them again sometime! Vital Idles were a great choice for warm up act at this show, I recommend you check out their music if you like Bodega.
